33. THEODORE F. WIGHT was born on 4 Apr 1818 in KENTUCKY. He died on 12 Aug 1887 in SCOTT TOWNSHIP, MADISON CO. IOWA. Theodore was elected constable of Knox County, Illinois on August 7,
1843. The 1850 Census of Knox County, Illinois, shows Theodore as 32
years of age and his occupation as a farmer. Living with him at that
time was his wife Elizabeth, sons, James, 9 and George 4, daughter Elisy,
8 and Laura, 2. In about 1855, Theodore and his family moved from
Illinois to Madison County, Iowa, where he engaged in farming. In the
book, the History of Madison County, 1879, it shows Theodore as a farmer,
owning Section 10, P.O. Winterset, and settling there in 1852. The 1870
Census of Webster Township, Madison County, Iowa, shows Theodore, wife
Elizabeth, sons Theodore Jr., and George and granddaughter Elisy living
on their farm. It further shows the farm to be worth $18,400 and their
personal property to be worth $5,450. The census also shows a George
Hart living with them and working as a farm laborer and a Mary Gray
residing with them and working as a domestic servant. The 1880 Census
shows Theodore with his second wife, Jane, and four boarders living with
them, Catherine Dixon, 19; Martha Kirkwood, 31 and Jennie Kirkwood, 19,
all listed their occupations as housekeepers and Frances Edmonnason, 18,
farm laborer. It also shows Theodore's son by his first marriage,
Theodore L., 27 (Theodore passed away a few days after this census was
taken). Theodore and Elizabeth raised their granddaughter, Eunice, after
their daughter Elisy died, probably in childbirth. Out of seven children,
there were only two living at the time of his death in 1887. Theodore
was buried in the Wight Cemetery, near Winterset, Madison County, Iowa
on August 14, 1887. His headstone reads, D. Aug. 12, 1887 Age 69 y
4 m 8 d.

He was married to ELIZABETH OSBORN on 15 Jun 1839 in HANCOCK COUNTY, INDIANA. ELIZABETH OSBORN was born on 27 Nov 1818 in INDIANA. She died on 12 Jan 1895 in IOWA. Elizabeth died at the age of 76 and was buried at the Wight Cemetery,
Madison County, Iowa on January 14, 1895, next to her husband, Theodore.
Her headstone reads, Elizabeth Wife of Theo D. Jan. 12, 1875, Age
56 y 1 m 20 d.

child93 v. LAURA D. WIGHT was born on 23 Feb 1848 in HENDERSON, KNOX CO. ILLINOIS. She died on 8 Apr 1851 in HENDERSON, KNOX CO. ILLINOIS. Laura died at 3 years, 2 months and 13 days of age in Hendersonville,
Knox County, Illinois. She is buried beside her sister, America, in
Hendersonville.

child94 vi. THEODORE L. WIGHT was born on 20 Jan 1853 in ILLINOIS. He died on 20 Jul 1880 in SCOTT TOWNSHIP, MADISON CO. IOWA. The 1870 Census of Madison County, Iowa, shows Theodore, living with his
mother, father and brother George, in Webster Township and his occupation
as a farm laborer. The 1880 Census of Madison County shows Theodore as
27 years of age, a farmer and sick with consumption. The census was done
on July 12-13 of 1880 and Theodore died on July 20, 1880. He is buried
at the Wight Cemetery Madison County, Iowa. His headstone reads, Son of
T. & E., July 20, 1880, Age 27 y, 6 mo.

child95 vii. LEANDER D. WIGHT was born on 10 Sep 1857 in WINTERSET, MADISON CO, IOWA. He died on 10 May 1859 in WINTERSET, MADISON CO. IOWA. Leander died in Iowa and is buried at the Wight Cemetery, near
Winterset, Madison County, Iowa. His headstone reads Leander - D.
May 10, 1859 Age 1 y 3 m.

He was married to JANE FINLAYSON on 8 Mar 1876 in MADISON COUNTY, IOWA. JANE FINLAYSON was born in 1828 in SCOTLAND. She died on 22 Dec 1901 in WINTERSET, MADISON CO. IOWA. Jane and Theodore were married by J.A. Smith M.G. (Minister of the
Gospel). Jane passed away at 84 years of age at Center Township, Madison
County, of old age and is buried at the Winterset Cemetery, Madison
County ,Iowa.
