168. EDD CARL WIGHT
was born on 1 Jun 1871 in WINTERSET, MADISON CO. IOWA. He died on 9 Oct
1942 in LEWISTOWN, FERGUS CO. MONTANA. Edd and his parents, brothers and sisters
traveled to Montana from
Winterset, Madison County, Iowa by covered wagon in 1884. The 1900 Census
of Philbrook, Fergus County, Montana, show Edd to be living with his wife
Isabelle and their son Thomas. Two of Edd's brothers, Phillip and Ralph,
were also living on the ranch with them. The census also indicated that
Edd's occupation was a stockman and his brothers were both "row boys".
Edd spent most of his life around Utica, Montana. Edd and his two sons
went to Arkansas to visit Edd's brother Phillip. Shortly after their
arrival, Phillip died. Edd stay on about four years in order to sell the
farm. It was there he met and married his second wife, Lulu Clayborn.
Edd passed away in 1942 and is buried at the Philbrook Cemetery,
Philbrook, Fergus County, Montana.

ISABELLA NICHOLSON on 1 May 1898 in PHILBROOK, FERGUS CO. MONTANA.
ISABELLA NICHOLSON was born on 16 Sep 1881 in NORTHUMBERLAND, ENGLAND.
She died on 6 Feb 1902 in PHILBROOK, FERGUS CO. MONTANA. Isabelle's nickname
was Bella. She had a brother Tom Nicholson of
Montana whose son Charlie, still lives in the Hobson area of Fergus
County. Bella passed away in 1902, leaving her husband Edd and her two
sons Thomas, 2 and James, 1. The boys lived with their paternal
grandparents, James and Mary Ann Wight for some time. Bella is buried at
the Philbrook Cemetery, Philbrook, Fergus County, Montana.

THOMAS WIGHT was born on 19 Sep 1899 in PHILBROOK, FERGUS CO. MONTANA.
He died in Sep 1972 in LIVINGSTON, PARK CO. MONTANA. As a young man, Tom
moved to Rockville, near Billings and farmed for
awhile with his dad, Edd. Then he came back to Judith Basin and worked
at the sapphire mine for a year and a half until it closed from flash
flood damage. He then worked for Peter Forbes at the Highland Ranch and
then for Douglas at he Windham Ranch in what was called the Missouri
Breaks. Tom also worked for a while at Browning with a sheep company.
He bought cattle and wintered them at Utica and then moved them to a
place at Forest Grove. Later he bought a ranch at Fergus, which he sold
to the company that owned the Horse Ranch in 1948. After that he lived
in Lewistown, working at various ranches around Utica in the summertime,
including two summers on the Highland Ranch again. Thomas never
married. He passed away in 1972 and is buried in the Lewistown Cemetery,
Lewistown, Fergus County, Montana.

LULU MATTIE DALE CLABORN was born on 5 Aug 1886 in GILLHAMS, ARKANSAS.
She died on 28 Feb 1968 in LEWISTOWN, FERGUS CO. MONTANA. Lulu was the daughter
of James Franklin and Dora (McFarland) Claborn.
She passed away in 1968 and is buried at the Lewistown Cemetery,
Lewistown, Fergus County, Montana.
