After my last outing with my DV I thought I would tell you all about today's wonderful day of flying...

Today turned out to be a very nice fall day here in the Pacific Northwest. The sun was out and my family was out of turn -- a perfect day for flying.:D

I decided to take the DV and see if I could work a few of the minor kinks that had been bothering me out. Since last I had it out I added another 3/4 oz. of lead to the extreme trailing edge. I used the simple stick on lead bars. This put the CG smack in the middle of the forward and aft limits. I don't know if this CG shift made any real difference, but my DV flew fabulously today. I had bumped up both the aileron and elevator control throws about 5% each and it made a nice difference. The rolls are almost too fast to count, and the loops are big and round. Split S's, Immelmans, and Cuban 8's are fun as easy to do. I finally am gaining some confidence with this model and am starting to really enjoy flying it. It is amazing how slowly this plane will fly. Since I am still a little nose heavy my landings are three point arrivals and I am still not getting slow enough. Even after a slow touch down if I give more up elevator the nose lifts and she still wants to fly. Amazing. Take off require less than 1/2 throttle and she pretty flies herself off when she is ready.

The other thing I noticed is that after 15 minutes of flying I still have around 8 oz. of fuel left. I put in a 16 oz. tank since I expected the O.S. .91FX to be kinda thirsty, but when you can loaf along and 1/3, or so, throttle fuel tends to last. ;) Maybe I should put in a smaller tank? I guess I could always fly faster...:D

I still need to move the CG back, but then that's true for all of my models.;)

If you are looking for something a little different then look no further -- the DV is it. I am really happy with the way it flies and it never fails to gather a crowd...

Cheers!

Galen
